I am in a constant state of figuring out who I am. I have been asking myself, “What do I want to be when I grow up?” for a very long time. What I have discovered along the way is that I am a lot of things: a woman, a daughter, a wife, a mother, a friend, an educator, a singer, a dancer, an artist. I have a restless spirit that desires to explore and create. I am constantly amazed by the world around me and by the wonderful people I meet. The most important thing I have discovered is that “seeing” requires paying attention, slowing down long enough to become aware. My art is an attempt to document the things that inspire me, the feelings they invoke inside of me, and my reactions to all of my experiences.
I am a person of faith. My faith in God inspires me to be attentive to my own shortcomings and my gifts and to be more accepting of others. I believe that God created all of us in His image, that he has instilled in each of us His creative Spirit. We are all artists in our own ways. We each have gifts that make us unique. When we share these gifts, hopefully, we are sharing a bit of God’s Holy Spirit.
I experience so many serendipitous events – those moments I call Divine Appointments – in which I meet someone or experience an encounter with nature that brings that overwhelming sense of “the perfect encounter at just the right time!” Those meetings stay with me over my entire lifetime as reminders of a power far greater than me – the power I call God. I don’t think of God in the third person, but I think I have objectified my description as a defense from trying to inflict my personal beliefs on the readers of my webpage. I am not a fundamental, right-wing Christian. I am a Christian with deep beliefs, but I do not feel the need to force my beliefs on my readers. I can say that being a Christian makes me who I am. The person I am is continually seeking the good and holy, the honest and true in the midst of my own humanness and shortcomings everyday that I live.
May God’s Spirit in me recognize God’s Spirit in you!
God’s Blessings!
